NGO NCD Panel Discussion

Last Updated on September 14, 2023

In honour of the Global Week for Action on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), which commences on September 14th 2023, we convened a dynamic panel discussion. This event, hosted on HealthWise via ZIZ, provided a crucial platform for NGOs to delve into pivotal issues surrounding NCDs. Together, we explored their profound impact on our community, the tireless efforts being made by NGOs to combat them, and the policies essential for their prevention and control.

Panelists included:

  • Dr Glenville Liburd: Representing the Nevis CBR Advocates and the Nevis Renal Society.
  • Zahra Jacobs: Representing the Mental Health Association.
  • Dr Marcus Natta: Representing the Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation.
  • Dr Al Pierre: Representing the Medical and Dental Association.
  • Michele Baker: Representing Lake Health and Wellbeing organization.

Steering this discussion was Dr Lescott from the Medical and Dental Association.

Under the theme ‘From Policy to Impact: Driving Resilience and Sustainability Through Effective NCD Strategies,’ our local focus echoes the theme of our Independence celebrations. This synchrony emphasizes the integral role of effective NCD strategies in our nation’s progress.

For those who couldn’t join us live, worry not! The recording of the panel discussion is available, offering a wealth of valuable insights into NCDs and the collaborative endeavours of NGOs in combating them.

Our heartfelt gratitude extends to all panellists, the moderator, HealthWise, and ZIZ for their invaluable contributions. Together, we aspire to effect positive change, implement strategic measures, and foster healthier, more resilient communities. Stay tuned for further updates, resources, and opportunities to join us in this critical mission.
