In a heartening demonstration of support, the Nevis Island Administration has made a substantial financial presentation of $5,000 to Dr. Glenville Liburd, the lead and founder of the Nevis Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Advocates. Their vision extends towards the establishment of a rehabilitation centre that will provide essential support to persons with disabilities and senior citizens alike.
The noteworthy donation was personally presented by the Minister of Health, Gender Affairs, and Social Empowerment, Hon. Minister Jahnel Nisbett, on behalf of the Nevis Island Administration. Expressing the Administration’s commitment to fostering partnerships that yield meaningful benefits in the realm of social empowerment, Minister Nisbett pledged unwavering support to the Nevis CBR Advocates.
Dr. Glenville Liburd, upon receiving the generous contribution, articulated the organization’s vision and purpose. The Nevis CBR Advocates, with their motto “Transforming lives through inclusion and participation,” are dedicated to uplifting individuals with disabilities from the shadows and championing their active involvement within the community. Dr. Liburd expressed gratitude for the financial support, assuring that the funds will be employed to great effect in launching their upcoming Summer Camp 2023.
The Nevis CBR Advocates are committed to realizing their mission through various initiatives, including the Horticultural Therapy Project, designed to offer enriching activities that engage persons with disabilities and seniors in meaningful ways.

From organizing garage sales on World Disabilities Day to hosting an insightful radio program titled “Out of the Shadow into the Light” on 20/20 Vision Radio, their outreach is both diverse and impactful.
