Health Screening At Ram's Supermarket

Last Updated on September 26, 2023

On Saturday, September 23rd, our community came together for a day of health and wellness at Ram’s Supermarket in Bird Rock. As part of our activities for the St. Kitts and Nevis NCD Alliance during the Global Week for Action on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), we organized a free health check event that left an indelible mark on all who participated.

Partnering for a Healthier Tomorrow

First and foremost, we extend our deepest gratitude to our  partners whose unwavering support made this event possible:

  • Ministry of Health: Their commitment to public health and expertise ensured that the health checks provided were of the highest quality.
  • Ram’s Supermarket: Ram’s generously hosted the event, making it accessible to a wider audience in the Bird Rock community. Their hospitality and willingness to contribute to the community’s well-being are truly commendable.
  • Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF): This global partner’s dedication to improving healthcare around the world made a significant impact on our local event.

Empowering through Health Checks

A total of 79 individuals received free health checks during the event. These assessments included blood pressure, blood sugar levels, height, weight, BMI, and HIV testing. The importance of these health checks cannot be overstated. Early detection and preventive measures are essential in the battle against Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), such as heart disease, diabetes, and kidney disorders.

Community Engagement and Wellness

The event went beyond health checks; it was a day of community engagement and education. Health professionals from the Ministry of Health were on hand to provide personalized guidance on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, making positive dietary choices, and adopting physical activity routines. These interactions fostered a culture of wellness within the community.

The Global Week for Action on NCDs

Our event was part of a global initiative during the Global Week for Action on NCDs. This worldwide effort emphasizes the urgent need to raise awareness about NCDs and promote preventive measures. By participating in this global movement, we underscored our commitment to a healthier community and world.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on this successful health check event, we are excited about the future. Our commitment to promoting health and well-being remains steadfast. Stay tuned for more health initiatives coming your way as we continue our journey to better health together!

Your health matters, and together, we can build a healthier, happier, and more vibrant community. Thank you for joining us on this empowering day of health and wellness.
